Mr. V's Bees is pleased to offer beehive leases for Ag use and pollination.
In 2012, Texas law went into effect January 1, 2012. This law made it possible for beekeeping to qualify for Ag Valuation (Ag Exemption) on property taxes.
This is covered in the Tax Code under Chapter 23, Subchapter D, Sect. 23.51 (1) and (2). An Agriculture Exemption is not actually an Exemption but rather a Special Valuation.
The law states that properties with 5-20 acres may apply for the Ag Exemption.
In order to receive Ag Exemption valuation you must have had ag use for 5 of the last 7 years. If you do not, you can apply for Ag Exemption with your appraisal district for 4 years and on the 5th year you will be granted the tax savings.
5 acres need 6 hives, 1 additional hive for every 2.5 acres.
